People with autism find work spotting sofware bugs- and excel at it!

Posted 4-2-16 on re/code.net, a technology news site, “Testing Firm Finds That Some Workers With Autism Excel at Spotting Software Bugs.” This article, by a technology journalist, reviews the challenges that people with autism face in getting jobs; their unemployment rate is over 80%.

The article goes on to describe a program that hires people with autism to find bugs in software code.  It turns out that their attention to detail and ability to sustain their focus makes them superb at this job.  The company, Ultra Testing, has had to adjust hiring procedures, work flow processes, and company communication processes to accommodate people with autism.  The company’s clients, however, have noticed improved results with the addition of the autism work force, and word is spreading in the tech industry about Ultra’s autism remarkably effective program.
